The Health and Europe Centre has more than 20 years of experience in European collaboration including partnership building, project development and project management. We have successfully bid for and managed over €60 million of EU projects between 2014-20. Our role as expert lead partner, with unique expertise in cross-border project management saves the project partnership valuable time and resources.
Established in the late 1990s, our speciality is project development and support for the health and social care sectors in Kent and Medway. Through this in-depth work, we have developed a unique and profound understanding of how health and social care systems operate in Europe and how innovation can be practically transferred and implemented between countries. Our experience and expertise can benefit organisations across the UK so any health, social care or educational organisation – whether statutory or voluntary – is welcome to contact us.

Alice Chapman-Hatchett – Health and Europe Centre Director
Alice started her professional life as a translator before becoming interested in European Affairs. She joined the Health and Europe Centre in January 2009, having previously worked for the European Affairs Group at Kent County Council.
She has extensive European and public sector experience and has developed projects and partnerships in Europe and further afield and is very familiar with how the EU works and how new EU policy evolves.
As director, Alice focuses on promoting co-operation with health and social care experts in other EU countries to develop EU funded projects, explore evidence of good practice and create links for exchanges and shared learning. She co-ordinates the work of her team and is also responsible for all management aspects of the Centre.
In December 2020 Alice was elected as the President of the European Public Health Alliance.
We have developed and managed European projects from many different funding streams, covering a range of different topics in the health and social care fields.
We provide a complete project management service, starting with bid development and finding partners through bid submission to all aspects of project management once funded, including reporting, financial management and audit.
A not-for-profit-company, we work closely with local NHS and local government stakeholders to bring European learning, practice and policy to the local health community.
Each stakeholder has representatives on the Health and Europe Centre Management Board and they govern, direct, review and support the work of the Centre. We also work with many different project partners across Europe.
The Health and Europe Centre is an active member of several European networks including EuroHealthNet, we also work with a range of project partners from health and social sectors across Europe.
We provide our unique expertise in project development, bidding and management to our partners; but don’t just take our word for it, you can read what our partners have to say about working with us.
